Dear Auntie Kate:
I'm currently seventeen, I'll turn eighteen soon. I really have a crush on my cousin (she is my mom's cousin's daughter). She is fifteen and about to turn sixteen.  We are pretty close. Often we sit together and our bodies touch. Sometime she gives me this unregistable looks with two big bright eyes. But there is one problem, she told me she like some guy (younger that her) at school. Do you think that she might have the same feeling as I do? Do you think that she might trying to make me jealous? Should I approach her and tell her my feeling?

Please tell me what to do and recommended way to solve this problem.

Dear T,

Yes, I get the impression from what you have said that your second
cousin might have a little crush on you, just like you have on her.
No, I don't think she's really trying to make you jealous. She's just
mentioning some guy she likes to see if that is OK with you, and she
shouldn't think about you that way. But, I can tell that you DO think
about her that way. She wants to know, so be nice and gentle, but tell
her that you do like her.

I don't know if there is a recommended way, T.  My advice is to be
honest and tactful, and not to pressure your cousin for any more than
she is willing to offer you in the way of a relationship.  Cousin
relationships can be very nice, but they do last for the rest of your
lives.  Just be a little careful and try to communicate honestly, and
do the right thing if we've both missread her signals.

Good Luck!

Aunt Kate
