Dear R,
Oh dear. You know that your old Aunt Kate is the wrong person to ask for that kind of advice. My heart goes out to you though, but I just don't know a SOUL in Des Moines, Iowa.
You need a good attorney. You need time to heal. You will have to dip
into your resources if you are to fight this
battle. You need a sympathetic attorney who will likely not be cheap.
Your best alternative dear, if you don't have the resources for good counsel,
is to let time heal the wounds.
In know that it sounds horrible, but in a few years your children will
mature and know that you are in a moral, loving
relationship. Children don't forget their mother, despite other influences.
If you do have resources, perhaps your attorney can find a way to have
your case reviewed in a year or two, preferably in another jurisdiction
or before a more sympathetic judge. Unfortunately judges do have a lot
of discretionary power in these circumstances and it is expensive to press
your rights after a judgment has gone against you.
Best luck dear!
Do any of my readers have legal contacts in Iowa??
