Dear Auntie Kate:I am in love with my cousin and we have kissed a lot. My problem is that my parents have fount out and so I can't see him anymore. I feel so empty and I even don't have his e-mail. What should I do?
Dear Jess,
Oh dear, it sounds like you have your first heartbreak. I am so sorry Jess. It is a horribly cold and empty feeling, isn't it? I can't tell how old you are from your mail, but it sounds like your first kisses were very sweet.
All I can suggest dear, is to be patient. You have a long life ahead. It will be full of wonderful kisses and wonderful loves. You'll feel much better in a few days or weeks. Once you do, you'll be able to look over your shoulder, smile enjoy the sweet memories and think of all the good things to come. For a little while, you might try digging in to schoolwork, or sports, or some activity that can preoccupy you for a few weeks. That would help you move on.
One of the nicest things about cousin relationships is that they never
really go away. Your cousin will still be your cousin when you're
sitting on the swing at the old folks home like me. If you're lucky,
you might have a chance to catch up on a few of the kisses that you have
missed.
